one of three key exercises: sprints, running in place, or running in the push-up position, aka mountain climbers. increasing your speed of play and accelerating on the whistle.

an iconic, yet rare, kick where a player kicks over their head, striking an airborne ball into a goal. this move is one of the most athletic moves a soccer player can successfully complete.

the parallel, on the floor version of the signature bicycle kick. the last exercise in all sphere classes prior to the sole-to-sole cool down to maintain consistency and encourage teammates to #finishstrong together.

the only word that truly depicts the sphere culture; how we describe our play, our players, our team.

a ball tap or ball touch. keeping your foot on top of the ball to maneuver it down the field with small touches.

pick-up soccer games at our indoor studio, at clubs, or during outdoor workouts. one of our class formats on our online platform powa. a fluid 45-minute workout that encompasses all aspects of what it takes to be a complete player.

a place where players congregate before, during, and after practice and games. it’s where players not only keep their belongings but rest, collect themselves, prepare for the field, and build connections with teammates.

off the pitch:
a spherical place where teammates share stories, speak freely, and support one another. an atmosphere where relationships can be built.

on the pitch:
a soccer field or playing area; a place where a soccer game is facilitated.

off the pitch:
as a noun, how high or low a tone is. also a business presentation or sell. as a verb, a baseball player throwing a ball. also to fix something firmly in place, such as a tent.

on the pitch:
although practice is a general term used for all sports, it’s crucial for soccer. in soccer, practice helps you work on different areas of the field to help create a complete player and team. the concept of practice inspired the name of one of our classes on our online workout platform, powa. practice is a shorter, 24 to 26-minute long session where you can focus on one area of the game you're looking to sharpen up.

off the pitch:
performing a particular activity or method until it becomes a habit. can also be used to describe the soleful practices of yoga and meditation.

 
 

on the pitch:
a yellow card is used to warn a player to chill after an aggressive or a non-deliberate violent act. there is no immediate punishment until a player receives two yellow cards in the same match. two yellow cards form one red card, leading to a player being immediately dismissed from the pitch.

off the pitch:
you don’t have to be on the pitch to get a yellow card. inappropriate actions that aren’t funny or bad jokes that may offend someone else also warrant this penalty. forgot your girlfriend’s birthday? yellow card. those old school sleepover pranks with shaving cream? yellow card.

on the pitch:
a red card is given to immediately send a player off the field. once you receive a red card, you are forbidden to play for the remainder of the match and must sit out the next. a red card can be given due to serious foul play or violent conduct, spitting, deliberately touching the ball with a hand to prevent a goal, fouling an opponent to prevent a goal, using insulting or threatening language or gestures, or receiving a second yellow card in one game.

we were told as children if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all. that rule applies pretty much always. any sort of racism, bullying, cheating, hatred, or violence toward others is grounds for a red card.

on the pitch:
a break during practice or training to grab water and recover both physically and mentally. or, a chance to unwind between segments of class to grab water then get back in the game.

off the pitch:
a moment to pause, reflect, and practice gratitude. a water break from your daily life can be scheduling a day off from work, even if you’re not going on vacation, going on a road trip with your family to unplug, or just putting your phone away for a few hours. life is a long match; you need this time to make sure you can go the distance.

wishing a teammate luck or well wishes to do their best with the time they have been given to play. focusing on the quality of play rather than minutes on the field.

how would you play today if you knew you couldn’t tomorrow? a mantra; a style of play. a way for anyone to understand our team and the direction we are playing. being a good player but a better person.

he bottom of a pair of cleats. the connection between a soccer ball and your sole.

off the pitch:
soul = sole.

two lines that create boundaries on a field; a line that separates players who are on and off the field; where fans observe and spectate.

a line that is drawn to create structure for our classes and to establish a player protocol for our team to follow on and off the field.

a phrase used to invite teammates to class; a coach’s cue to signal a game or segment is about to start in any sphere class.

group texting your friends to go drink for sunday funday or asking someone to play soccer and kick the ball around with you.

our earth, our globe, a soccer ball, the most powaful shape in the world.

the name of our business, our indoor studio in #hoUSton, and our signature class (soccer + fitness.)

on the pitch:
a phrase used to ensure players never let the ball die because it welcomes pressure and slows the game down; a reminder to share and keep the ball moving to improve a team’s chances of winning.

off the pitch:
pay it forward by helping others. look to pass instead of trying to shoot. create an assist rather than trying to score. hold a door open, carry an elderly person’s groceries, donate to a charitable cause, teach a friend’s sibling how to juggle, buy a stranger’s drink at starbucks.

an association or organization dedicated to a particular team. we may refer to the sport as “soccer” but outside of the US & parts of canada, soccer is called “football.” soccer teams are referred to as football clubs, or “FC” - FC barcelona, manchester city FC, chelsea FC.

both an outdoor class and individual licensing model (club) to allow others to share our soccer-inspired workouts.
